Camus Cognac is France’s largest, family-owned producer of Cognac. Under its current president Cyril Camus, the company has established an enviable record for quality and innovation, consistently pushing the boundaries of Cognac and developing new and innovative aroma and taste profiles. Recently, I caught up with Cyril Camus, an old friend, to discuss the state of the Cognac industry and to learn about the company’s most recent innovations.
The Camus Cognac house was established in 1863 by Jean-Baptiste Camus in the town of Cognac, located in the Charente region of France. He initially started by grouping together a few producers to create a consortium called “La Grande Marque.”
Now in its fifth generation, the company is run by Cyril Camus, the great-great-grandson of Jean Baptiste. Over the generations, Camus has maintained its independence and commitment to craftmanship and innovation, becoming one of the most renowned names in the Cognac industry.
